Ethical Guidelines
Professional Behavior: Participants at MBA events are expected to behave in accordance with professional standards and as prescribed in applicable laws governing appropriate workplace behavior.
The MBA will not tolerate harassment in any form, including, but not limited to, harassment based on gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, age, religion, or any other status protected by law.
Harassment includes the use of abusive, offensive, or degrading language, intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, sexual imagery and unwelcome sexual advances or request for sexual favors.
It further includes abusive, harassing, offensive or inappropriate postings on social media or other online publications or other forms of electronic communication during or after an MBA event and/or other postings that would improperly intrude on the personal and/or privacy rights of other attendees.
“Respect Yourself and Others”: MBA encourages moderation, safety, and mindfulness when it comes to alcohol consumption. Our goal is to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all attendees and excessive alcohol consumption may lead to harassing behavior.
Compliance & Enforcement
Participants who feel they are being harassed at MBA events or believe they have witnessed harassment of another individual at an MBA event should immediately bring the incident to the attention of the MBA Board or representatives at the event.
The MBA will provide an email for participants to report incidents of harassment. This inbox will be checked regularly by a member of the Montgomery Business Associations leadership team. Harassment reports at MBA events will be addressed, in a timely manner, by MBA leadership and will be managed with sensitivity and discretion.
Any participant at an MBA event who is asked to stop behavior that is considered harassment is expected to comply immediately.
If a participant continues to engage in behavior that is considered harassment, the MBA will take appropriate action which may include expulsion from the event and exclusion from future MBA events.
This Code of Conduct may be revised at any time by the Montgomery Business Association Board and the terms are non-negotiable.
